Weekend Things: Magic Berries and Contentment

Remembering our freshly striped entryway in California, circa 2007.
  1. It's the second day in a row that I've cheerfully eaten an Angus burger.  So satisfying and good.  For personal health reasons, I often veer away from red meat, but am prayerful that this will keep changing.  Faith is the substance of things hoped for.  Collagen powder has been a help with healing my gut.  Nevertheless, I'll plan to take it easy with certain foods.

  2. Today I ran a medium load of jeans, tops, and undergarments using washberries.  About a month ago, Honey found a lone, unopened box sitting on a shelf in the garage.  We studied the phenomena in his hands: what are washberries and why are they magic?  No fabric softener or dryer sheets needed?  Still enthralled over how effective these soap nuts have been.  And even though I mindlessly threw the clothes and small sack of washberries in the dryer after washing (these are not part of the instructions), no clothing catastrophes took place 😌.  Clean and soft.

  3. Shuffling through old photos of our former home in California and remembering what it contained...burgers with mushrooms on our George Foreman grill, laughter-filled sleepovers with cousins, Saturday morning family chores...a season where we were being shaped and shown blessings we can affectionately look upon and say thank you for.

  4. Overhearing media chatter about Ayesha Curry's comments on a recent segment of Red Table Talk, I wanted to watch the episode in its entirety to understand the hype.  So... she was honest in sharing.  I think she's lovely.  She and her family.  I'll move on.

  5. Circling these words by Tim Keller on contentment:
Here, then is the message.  Don't love anything less; instead learn to love God more, and you will love other things with far more satisfaction.  You won't be constantly furious with them for not being what you hoped.  Don't stifle passionate love for anything; rather, redirect your greatest love toward God by loving him with your whole heart and loving him for himself, not just for what he can give you.  Then, and only then, does the contentment start to come.
Here's to happy weekends ❤
